Arizona State basketball takes on Stanford tonight.

Arizona State basketball (6-5) hits the road for a matchup with Stanford (5-5) to kick off Pac-12 play tonight. ASU will look to end its three-game losing streak, while Stanford will look to pick up its sixth win of the season.

The Sun Devils swept the season series with the Cardinal last year. ASU has won six of the last eight matchups but has lost two of the last three games played at Stanford.

The Cardinal went 7-13 in Pac-12 play last season, while the Sun Devils finished conference play at 11-9. Both teams will look to get a big win tonight to start conference play.

Here are our Sun Devil Daily staff predictions for ASU basketball against Stanford.

Arizona State basketball predictions against Stanford

ASU: 64 Stanford: 70

A long layoff for holiday break and the last time we saw ASU come off the long break they did not play as well as many thought. ASU has been struggling mightily this season and that will continue tonight. ASU needs to show a complete 40-minute effort if they want to win. – Cooper Burns (7-2)

ASU: 78 Stanford: 83

ASU’s struggles continue tonight as they face a Pac-12 opponent. Stanford averages nearly 13 more points per game than ASU and has better field goal and rebound percentages. However, Stanford’s defense is not their strong suit, allowing 74 points per game. So even though ASU takes the loss, it won’t be without a fight. Truitt Robinson (2-1)

ASU: 60 Stanford: 71

The Sun Devils have struggled to have two quality halves together against a quality opponent and I believe this trend will continue tonight. Playing on the road is always tough and after a long break, ASU needs to start strong offensively and get into a rhythm early if they stand a chance of winning. – Anthony D’Amato (6-3)

ASU: 72 Stanford: 66

ASU has struggled lately with its three-game losing streak. But I think head coach Bobby Hurley knows how important this game is. The Pac-12 is deep, and the Sun Devils will need to squeeze out wins in games like this one to have a chance down the road. I think the offense gets into a little bit more rhythm tonight and the defense gets back to its stifling form we saw earlier in the season. I think ASU can get the job done tonight to open conference play. – Douglas Santo (6-3)

ASU: 78 Stanford: 84

Coming into the conference opener, the Sun Devils have struggled against two NCAA tournament quality opponents with losses to TCU and Northwestern. ASU is averaging 67 points compared to Stanfords’ 78 points per game. After a long break and on the road, don’t expect anything special from the Sun Devils as a long season awaits for ASU heading into PAC-12 play. – Landin Jeffrey
