BERKELY, Calif. — Arizona State football is going on the road for the first time this season in a matchup with the California Golden Bears. Cal is currently favored by 13. Last week the Sun Devil Daily staff went 3-0 in our predictions. Without wasting any more time, let’s get into our predictions for Arizona State’s 5th game of the season.

Arizona State football vs. Cali predictions

Arizona State: 24 California: 21

Not sure why ASU is such a heavy underdog after playing so well against USC last week. With Trenton Bourguet in at QB, he can move around more allowing some versatility. Runningback Cameron Skattebo will do what he does and the defense will get enough rest to be itself. – Cooper Burns (4-0)

Arizona State: 31 California: 27

ASU builds off of its best performance of the season last week against USC. Kenny Dillingham stays aggressive on offense with Bourguet at quarterback and ASU puts up its most points of the season. I think Elijhah Badger, Jalin Conyers, and Skattebo all have nice days once with Dillingham calling plays. The defense is able to get a couple of key stops, and ASU leaves Berkeley victorious. – Douglas Santo (2-2)

Arizona State: 24 California: 17

Arizona State builds off the much-improved showing against USC last weekend. The difference is that USC’s offense is the most explosive in the country, and Cal’s isn’t close to that level. The defense steps up big time and the offense keeps taking steps with Dillingham as the play-caller. Bourguet makes his second start of the season and is able to dice up a sound California defense with short and calculated throws. Dillingham gets his first win in the Pac-12 of his head coaching career. – Brendon Pricco (3-1)
