TEMPE, Ariz. —  There will be a lot of new faces on the field for Arizona State football in the fall. While the majority of these new players will be incoming transfers, some of them will be new freshmen. One freshman, in particular, has been impressive and undergone a complete body transformation in his short time in Tempe.

Ashley Williams is one of the top incoming freshmen to keep an eye out for this fall. The defensive end from Louisianna was ranked as the 545th-best player in the nation (247 Sports) and the 51st-best edge prospect.

Williams racked in 24 scholarship offers and chose the Sun Devils over marquee programs like Auburn and Nebraska. He’s described as “Among the crown jewels of new Sun Devil Head Coach Kenny Dillingham’s first signing class at Arizona State,” according to Arizona State football’s official website.

“Instant impact prospect from one of the most competitive recruiting areas in the country,” the website continues.

Instant impact.

That’s exactly what Arizona State and Kenny Dillingham need. Reports say Williams has been one of the most impressive newcomers in spring ball. Williams has also gained a stunning 30 pounds since arriving in Tempe.

The Louisiana native came in at 220 lbs and now is a staggering 250 lbs.

“Talented pass rusher that uses his length and athleticism to overwhelm opposing offensive linemen. Effective run defender thanks to his power and ability to shed blocks,” Arizona State’s official website says.

Williams was already a beast, now he’s more athletic and even stronger.

Ashley Williams is going to put the Pac-12 on notice this fall.
