Today was National Signing Day, one of the biggest days in college football. It marks the day that football players can sign their letters of intent to play football at a university and also get on campus early.
With the newer early signing period we see most players sign due to their will to want to get on campus and start learning the new systems immediately. Here is a quick overview of how Arizona State’s Signing Day went.
Arizona State football Signing Day overview
Last year compared to this year
For Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham and his staff, this is their first full class together in Tempe. Last year’s class for ASU ranked around the low 40s and high 50s depending on what recruiting site you used.
Most of the recruiting and signees came from then-head coach Herm Edwards and interim coach Shaun Aguano. Aguano is still on staff and played a major role in several of ASU’s 2024 commitments.
This year’s class for Dillingham panned out much nicer as he had plenty of time to recruit and get everything straight with his staff. Also, remember this is not the only chance for recruits to sign. There is another Signing Day in Feb.
As of 4:30 pm on December 20th, ASU ranks in the 40s overall and around the top third in the Big 12, once again depending on what site you are viewing.
Keeping players in the state
One of the biggest points for Dillingham was keeping kids in state and he did a nice job of that in his first season.
Out of all the recruits from high school, Dillingham signed four in-state prospects, the biggest being Plas Johnson from Dillingham’s alma mater Chaparral High School.
Dillingham has repeated time and time that his main goal is to keep kids in the state and with the class of 2025 getting better every day he has a chance to get some elite talent.
