TEMPE, Ariz. — The hot recruiting weekend continues for Arizona State football. The latest addition is another California recruit, this one a three-star safety from Orange Lutheran High School.

Benjamin Alefaio commits to Arizona State football

Alefaio ranks as the No. 75 safety in the 2025 class and the No. 923 overall prospect according to 247 Sports.

Last season Alefaio compiled:

  • 31 total tackles
  • 18 assisted tackled
  • 13 solo tackles
  • Four tackles for loss

Outside of visiting ASU this weekend, Alefaio was planning official visits to California, Kansas, and SMU. Securing Alefaio’s pledge before those other official visits is a major recruiting feat for Kenny Dillingham and the ASU staff.

“I did have other visits set up, but I am not going to take them, but I wish the best to the other colleges I had in mind and am thankful for the great opportunity they have blessed me with,” Alefaio told 247 Sports.

Alefaio held 13 scholarship offers before his commitment, including offers from Arizona, Florida, Washington, and others.

The three-star safety is yet another recruiting win in Southern California for Dillingham. The Sun Devils are establishing roots in both California and Texas in the Dillingham era.

Alefaio is the third recruit from California in Arizona State football’s 2025 recruiting class. He joins Michael Tollefson, from Tustin, and Matai Jefferson, from Bellflower.

After the commitment of Alefaio, ASU’s 2025 recruiting class ranks No. 22 nationally and No. 3 in the Big 12. Arizona State hasn’t had a top-25 recruiting class since the 2020 class. That was the same class where Herm Edwards and his coaching staff committed illegal recruiting violations during the COVID-19 dead period.
