TEMPE, Ariz. — Kenny Dillingham and Arizona State have been extremely active in the transfer portal, and late Saturday night they added their second tight end of the offseason. Shortly after Arizona State got a commitment from former Florida State tight end Markeston Douglas, the Devils decided they weren’t done.

Former San Diego State tight end Cameron Harpole announced his commitment to Arizona State football late Saturday night.

Tight end was a gaping hole on the roster, as the Sun Devils lost three of their tight ends from last season. Most notably Jalin Conyers decided to enter the transfer portal and has committed to Texas Tech. Other departures are Messiah Swinson, who has exhausted his eligibility, and Ryan Morgan who is retiring from football.

That leaves Bryce Pierre and incoming freshman four-star Jayden Fortier. Dillingham and tight ends coach Jason Mohns added Markeston Douglas, but the Sun Devils need more than just one new addition.

Now here is the second.

Meet Cameron Harpole, a Texas-native tight end, transferring to Tempe from San Diego State. Harpole has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

This past season Harpole tallied his first collegiate stats. As a freshman he redshirted, and in his redshirt freshman season, he was primarily on special teams.

In his redshirt sophomore season, Harpole had seven receptions for 69 yards.

Both Harpole and Douglas are much-needed pieces, even if they end up serving as depth pieces behind Fortier or Pierre.

Dillingham in the past has been known to run two-tight-end sets. We didn’t see any of that this past season, but that could be something to look out for in the future.
