Arizona State basketball contacts guard in transfer portal

TEMPE, Ariz. — With Arizona State men’s basketball season officially coming to an end it is now time to begin to look forward to next season. Head coach Bobby Hurley is bringing in a strong recruiting class and is expected to make a few moves in the transfer portal as well.

The transfer portal officially opened on March. 18, and reports indicate ASU already has its eyes on a prospect.

Today it was announced that the first player ASU is interested in this offseason is Jordan Ivy-Curry. Not only does Jordan Ivy-Curry have one of the best names a basketball player could have (Michael Jordan and Stephen Curry), but he’s a proven player as well. Ivy-Curry will be a redshirt senior during the 2024-2025 season.

Jordan Ivy-Curry’s collegiate history

The redshirt senior had no stars out of high school in the class of 2020 where he committed to play at UTSA. Ivy-Curry spent two years at UTSA, transferred to Pacifica University, then transferred back to UTSA last season.

Over the course of the last four seasons that Ivy-Curry has played, he averaged:

• 23 minutes
• 39% from the field
• 35.8% from three
• 80.1% from the free throw line
• Three rebounds
• Two assists
• 11.7 points

Early on Ivy-Curry’s numbers were a little lower than most but he had a breakout season last year for the team to boost his career averages up.

Last season at UTSA Ivy-Curry averaged:

• 27 minutes a game
• 40% from the field
• 38.7% from three
• 79.6% from the free throw line
• 5.2 rebounds
• Three assists
• 17.1 points

After his stint at Pacifica University, Ivy-Curry had the chance to go to the NBA Draft in 2023 but withdrew and transferred back to UTSA to continue his education. Arizona State is not the only team pursuing Ivy-Curry so far. Ole Miss, Virginia, Penn State, Seton Hall, LSU and Texas A&M are other schools that have contacted him (On3 Sports).
