TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State basketball (11-11, 5-6) heads to Boulder to face Colorado (15-7, 6-5) Thursday at 6 p.m. for the two teams second matchup this season. The game will be televised on FS1, or you can listen on ESPN 620 or Sirius XM 381.
The first matchup was played in Tempe, and the Sun Devils controlled the game with their home crowd behind them. ASU won 76-73, despite the Buffaloes shooting nearly 50% from the field. This time, Colorado will have their home crowd behind them, as they try to split the season series with ASU.
Neither team is very hot coming into the game. The Sun Devils have lost four straight games and now sit at 11-11 as their season has gone downhill quickly. The Buffaloes have lost two straight games, but still sit at 15-7 with hopes of playing in March. The Kenpom rankings currently have Colorado at No. 28. Meanwhile, ASU sits back at No. 127.
The all-time series between the two teams only spans 23 games. Colorado has won 13 of those, but ASU has won three of the last four.
Without further ado, here are our Sun Devil Daily staff predictions.
Arizona State basketball predictions against Colorado
ASU: 68 Colorado: 77
ASU is in a rut right now and a trip to the mountain schools will be a tough task as the team tries to get some positive momentum back. Jose Perez did not play in the second half of the Cal game and if he doesn’t play again, it will be an extremely difficult task upsetting Colorado in Boulder. – Anthony D’Amato (7-11)
ASU: 65 Colorado: 83
ASU is coming off four losses in a row, now having to face a tough Colorado team, who is averaging 80 points per game. It will be a tall task for the Sun Devils to handle. ASU has also been struggling with 3-pointers lately, which will make it even tougher for ASU to leave with a win. – Truitt Robinson (6-6)
ASU: 69 Colorado: 78
The Sun Devils have not looked good recently, and I don’t think they turn it around against Colorado. The Buffs are a good team that ASU already beat once. It will make it that much tougher to go into Boulder and win again. I think ASU would have to play nearly flawlessly to win, and I don’t see that happening. I think the Sun Devils drop their fifth straight game. – Douglas Santo (9-9)
