TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State basketball returns home to welcome Sam Houston State Wednesday night. The Sun Devils are coming off a 1-1 finish in the Vegas Showdown, where they were blown out by BYU, but bounced back with a win over Vanderbilt.
The Sun Devils are 2-0 at home this season and will look to add to the win column as they begin a three-game home stand.
Sam Houston State has begun the season 4-3 and comes into Wednesday riding a three-game win streak. Prior to that, the Bearkats had lost two straight to power five opponents but competed in both. Four of Sam Houston State’s seven games have been within seven points, including just a three-point loss to Ole Miss.
With that being said, here are our Sun Devil Daily staff predictions for ASU’s game against Sam Houston State.
Arizona State basketball predictions against Sam Houston State
ASU: 70 Sam Houston State: 60
The Arizona State men’s basketball team gets their fourth win of the season against Sam Houston. Head coach Bobby Hurley and the Sun Devils still haven’t found their groove. The Sun Devils are a work in progress and need to show more improvement on the court, as Pac-12 play quickly approaches. Sam Houston State has not been impressive this year and ASU will use this game as an opportunity to build consistency and confidence within the team. – Landin Jeffrey (3-0)
ASU: 69 Sam Houston State: 64
The Sun Devils will return home and end Sam Houston State’s three-game winning streak. Jamiya Neal will have another efficient game and lead the team in scoring. – Anthony D’Amato (3-0)
ASU: 74 Sam Houston State: 58
The offense is going to be much improved compared to the two games last week in Vegas. Hurley knows that if he wants to win games, he is going to have to push hard to get the offense going. Much improved game against Vandy after the disappointing performance against BYU and I believe some of that momentum will continue into this game. – Cooper Burns (3-0)
ASU: 77 Sam Houston State: 63
The ASU offense finally got going against Vanderbilt, and I think it continues to stay hot. The Sun Devils were able to get to line and covert against Vanderbilt and I think we’ll see a lot of that again. Free throw shooting and 3-point shooting will be the key for ASU’s offensive production this season, and I think they build on the good game against Vanderbilt. I think the defense has a strong showing and ASU cruises to victory. – Douglas Santo (3-0)
