Arizona State basketball (6-3) faces TCU (7-1) tonight in a rematch of the first-round matchup of the NCAA Tournament last season. ASU is coming off a heart-wrenching loss in San Diego and TCU is coming off its first loss of the season to the undefeated Clemson Tigers. Both teams will look to get back into the win column tonight.
The game will be played at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. It is a neutral site location for the game, despite the close proximity to TCU. The Sun Devils are 1-2 in neutral site games this season and the Horn Frogs are 1-1.
TCU won the NCAA Tournament meeting with ASU last season in a very tightly contested game, 72-70. The only other meeting between the two teams was over a decade ago when ASU won in Tempe, 52-49.
For the first time this season, redshirt junior guard Adam Miller will play for the Sun Devils. Miller was expected to be a big piece for ASU this season and will now be eligible to play for the rest of the season. Tonight will be Sun Devils fans’ first chance to see Miller in action.
Here are our Sun Devil Daily staff predictions for ASU basketball against TCU.
Arizona State basketball predictions against TCU
ASU: 69 TCU: 76
The last game against San Diego deflated the team’s morale and now they face yet another road test. While it may be a “neutral” site game, ASU will still have to hit the road. While both of these teams played in the tournament last year, they are vastly different. I think ASU will keep it close until late in the game. – Cooper Burns (6-1)
ASU: 73 TCU: 78
Both TCU and ASU are coming off disappointing losses. Even though ASU doesn’t get the job done against TCU, they don’t go down without a fight. Luckily, it is a neutral site game, so the Sun Devils won’t have to deal with as much crowd noise and distractions. – Truitt Robinson (0-1)
ASU: 76 TCU: 75
Coach Hurley and the returning Sun Devils will want revenge for last year’s tournament loss. ASU will need to have a nearly flawless game and Adam Miller will have a solid debut scoring double digits as the Devils eek out a close victory. – Anthony D’Amato (5-2)
ASU: 78 TCU: 74
There will be a lot of motivation for ASU tonight. I think head coach Bobby Hurley uses the heart-breaking loss to San Diego along with the season debut of Adam Miller to energize the Sun Devils and they come out ready to play. This is a big opportunity for ASU to capture a statement win and I think they can get it done. – Douglas Santo (6-1)
