TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State basketball welcomes the University of Massachusetts Lowell to Tempe Thursday for the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The Sun Devils dropped their season opener to Mississippi State but rebounded in their home opener with a win over Texas Southern.

ASU will look to build on that win on Thursday.

The River Hawks are 3-0 to begin their season with a +81-point differential. UMass Lowell is coming off an impressive win over ACC opponent Georgia Tech, 74-71.

With that being said, we’ll get right into our Sun Devil Daily staff predictions, for ASU’s matchup against UMass Lowell.

Arizona State Basketball vs UMass Lowell game predictions

ASU: 70 UMass Lowell: 62

UMASS Lowell is coming off an impressive road win against Georgia Tech. ASU still needs to find their defensive stride this season and will look to do that on Thursday. With that being said Lowell has an excellent offense in transition and that is why I believe it will be close. but ASU will eventually pull it out. – Cooper Burns (1-0)

ASU: 69 UMass: 64

UMass Lowell has proven to be a quality opponent through their first three games of the season and I believe they will prove to be pesky against the Sun Devils. Shawn Phillips Jr. will have his best game thus far in a Sun Devils uniform as ASU will win the rebounding battle for the first time this season. – Anthony D’Amato (1-0)

ASU: 62 UMass Lowell: 57

Arizona State looked better against Texas Southern. I think they’ll carry that momentum over into Thursday’s matchup against UMass Lowell. Don’t take the team from Massachusetts lightly, after coming off a 74-71 win against Georgia Tech. The Sun Devils keep it close but get it done and move to 2-1. – Landin Jeffrey (1-0)

ASU: 71 UMass Lowell: 60

UMass Lowell has shown they can compete, throughout its first few games of the season. This will be a good test for an ASU team that was embarrassed in its season opener but figured some things out in its home opener. I think the River Hawks keep it close, but the Sun Devils build a comfortable lead in the second half. I think ASU scores its first 70-point game of the season to improve to 2-1. – Douglas Santo (1-0)
