TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State basketball (11-12, 5-7) closes out its road trip in the mountains against Utah (15-8, 6-6) Saturday at 6 p.m. ASU has lost five straight games and dropped to ninth in the Pac-12 standings. The Sun Devils remaining schedule does not get any easier. Saturday’s game will be televised on ESPN2.

As mentioned, the Sun Devils have gone particularly cold lately after a strong 4-0 start to conference play. Although, Utah has not been too hot lately either. The Utes have lost three of their last four games, including coming just short last game out against Arizona.

This is the second time the two teams have met this season. ASU controlled the first game, looking like a completely different team than it has of late. However, Utah is a strong team that will be fighting for a spot in March. Three of the Utes’ eight losses on the season have come against top 10 opponents.

The Sun Devils tied the all-time series with the Utes, 12-12, its last time out. ASU has dominated the series lately winning four straight games and six of the last seven. Will history repeat itself and ASU get back in the column, or will Utah be too much for the Sun Devils?

Here are our Sun Devil Daily staff predictions for Arizona State basketball against Utah.

Arizona State basketball predictions against Utah

ASU: 69 Utah: 80

The Sun Devils can’t seem to put a full game together and Utah only has 1 loss at home this season (a triple OT loss to #8 Arizona on Thursday). ASU has not been able to overcome poor starts in their last 2 games and momentum and vibes seem to be at a season low. – Anthony D’Amato (8-11)

ASU: 68 Utah: 82

ASU’s momentum has been completely out the window for the last several games. ASU can’t get a rhythm going. Now having to face a tough Pac-12 opponent like Utah on the road, ASU and Bobby Hurley are going to have to figure out a way to get their head back in the game. – Truitt Robinson (7-6)

ASU: 68 Utah: 79

The Sun Devils losing streak has reached five games, and I don’t see it ending Saturday. Like the Colorado game, Utah is just a better team, and ASU already beat the Utes once. I don’t see them doing it again, let alone being on the road this time. ASU will have to play a complete game of shooting the ball well and strong defense if it wants a chance to win Saturday. – Douglas Santo (10-9)

ASU: 59 Utah: 78

All of the momentum from the 4-0 conference start is gone and will somehow need to be found again. ASU has had to claw back in their road wins this season and Utah is a hard team to come back against. Utah is the most bipolar team in terms of home and road splits, they are virtually unbeatable at home and that will prove the case tonight. – Cooper Burns
