TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State football bolstered their defensive line on Sunday, with a significant transfer. The Sun Devils picked up a commitment from former Louisville senior defensive tackle Jeffery Clark.
Arizona State football adds Jeffery Clark
Clark chose Arizona State football over several schools, including Michigan State and North Carolina.
Last season, in his lone season as Cardinal, he compiled 14 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and four quarterback hurries. However, before transferring to Louisville, Clark racked up very impressive numbers in his three seasons at Georgia State.
With the Panthers, Clark tallied 92 total tackles, including 19.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks. His play for Georgia State was enough for him to have several P5 suitors in the transfer portal including his future school Louisville, and Arizona State. While a year ago Clark chose the Cardinals over the Sun Devils, this time around ASU was able to finish the job.
Clark also has a connection to a former Sun Devil who had a lot of success last season. Clark was teammates with BJ Green at McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia. According to Clark’s father, Green provided him with a positive review of Arizona State football.
Clark and several other transfers will have big shoes to fill on the defensive line to make up for the production lost with the graduation of Dashaun Mallory and the transfer of Green.
The new Sun Devil has one remaining season of eligibility, and we expect the veteran to make an immediate impact in the trenches for Brian Ward and the ASU defense.
