TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State football continued its efforts to bolster the linebacker core this afternoon. The Sun Devils made another addition to the defense via the transfer portal. This time ASU poached a linebacker from San Diego State.
Arizona State football adds another linebacker in transfer portal
Zyrus Fiaseu, a former three-star athlete out of high school, is taking his talents to the desert. Fiaseu was considered an athlete out of high school after playing both sides of the ball in high school. The former three-star is from Liberty High School located in Henderson, Nevada.
At San Diego State Fiaseu played linebacker where he will more than likely play now at ASU.
While at San Diego State for the last two seasons Fiaseu collected some nice numbers. The redshirt sophomore has made 89 total tackles in his career at SDSU. He has also added six sacks. Fiaseu was also a heavy hitter, forcing four fumbles and recovering three. Finally, he also added five pass deflections.
Not too shabby.
Fiaseu will be a much-needed addition for the Sun Devils considering the lack of depth they had last year and what they have lost coming into the season.
Fiaseu will more than likely see playing time right away in Tempe and will fit nicely into Ward’s system given his speed and strength. He also has two remaining seasons of eligbility.
Arizona State football has been extremely active in the transfer portal retooling this roster. Stay tuned on Sun Devil Daily for all of ASU’s transfer portal moves.
