Arizona State football is looking for an offensive coordinator.

TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State football is finalizing a contract with a new offensive coordinator according to John Brice of FootballScoop.com

According to the report, Marcus Arroyo has emerged as Kenny Dillingham’s top choice for the role. Arroyo has been a longtime college coach and has been an assistant in the NFL.

Arroyo most recently was the head coach at UNLV. The first-time head coach went 7-23 before being fired.

2020: 0-6

2021: 2-10

2022: 5-7

The head man showed improvement each season, and the following year UNLV won nine games, with a roster full of Arroyo’s recruits.

Before being a head coach, Arroyo had a successful stint at Oregon. He was quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator in 2017, before being elevated to offensive coordinator for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Overall Oregon went 28-12 in his time there, including winning 15 of their last 17. Oregon averaged more than 34 points per game from 2017-19, which included a 12-win campaign that featured a Rose Bowl win.

While Arroyo isn’t officially ASU’s new offensive coordinator, Brice’s report on FootballScoop implies that he is the top choice as of now.

It would make sense for this coaching search to move quickly, as I anticipate Dillingham wants his staff finalized by Dec. 4. That is when the transfer portal officially opens, and a quarterbacks coach, as well as offensive coordinator, is important to have when recruiting players.

Especially quarterbacks, and as of now it seems like Arizona State might be looking for one in the portal.

We’ll update you with any more news on Arizona State’s offensive coordinator coaching search as it develops.
