TEMPE, Ariz. — The offensive line has been hit hard with the injury bug for Arizona State football this season. With hopes of a bye week bringing healthy and fresh players back to the mix, unfortunately, injuries still linger.
Arizona State football: Offensive line still plagued with injuries
Offensive lineman Bram Walden has been ruled out for the Washington game this Saturday. Fellow offensive lineman Joey Ramos is questionable, as is Cade Briggs.
On the bright side of things, Isaia Glass is back and healthy.
“We gained one and we lost two,” Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham said after practice on Tuesday.
Walden was a highly touted recruit who began his collegiate career at Oregon before transferring to Arizona State. The redshirt sophomore is originally from Scottsdale, Ariz., and was a four-star prospect coming out of high school. Walden has been particularly strong in pass protection this season.
Ramos is a redshirt senior who adds veteran leadership and stability to the group in the trenches. Injuries have plagued Ramos for some time now, as he suffered a season-ending ankle injury in the first game of the 2022 season.
Briggs is another transfer lineman, and he’s been consistently fighting through injuries this season as well.
Glass’s return is valuable for Arizona State, as he started all 12 games last season as a sophomore.
Arizona State desperately needs some offensive linemen to get healthy, as that’s arguably the most important unit on a football team. Things have gotten so dire that defensive tackle Sam Benjamin took some practice reps on the offensive line this week.
Yikes.
