Arizona State football struggled defensively last season. This offseason, there are three key recruits that Sun Devil fans need to keep an eye on that could make an impact on the defensive side.

1. Mardale Rowe

Rowe is a local talent out of Brophy College Prep in the class of 2024. He is listed as an edge player at 6’1, 225 pounds. According to 247sports.com, Rowe is the 112th-ranked edge player in the class and the 30th-best player in the state of Arizona. In 2022 Rowe was credited with 46 total tackles and 13.5 tackles for loss last season. In 2021, Rowe was credited with 20 tackles for loss and seven sacks in his sophomore year. Along with his offer from ASU, Rowe has offers from the likes of Arizona, Cal, Oregon, and Washington State, with others outside of the Pac-12 as well.

2. Ramere Davis

Another defender to keep an eye on is Ramere Davis. Davis is a linebacker out of Mater Dei in Santa Ana, California. Davis is ranked as the 133rd-best linebacker in the class of 2024 and the 116th-best player in the state of California. That may seem low, but California is one of the best states for producing talent in the US. Last season Davis had 17 total tackles and  2.5 sacks in his nine games played for the Monarchs last season. Despite the lower numbers, Davis is big in size at 6’2, 195 lbs and is built big for a linebacker, one to keep an eye on for the Sun Devils. Along with ASU, Davis has offers from Colorado, Michigan, Oregon, Florida State, LSU, Oregon, and Wisconsin, among others. A highly touted player to keep an eye on.

3. Kenny Worthy

Lastly, Kenny Worthy from Centennial High School in Peoria, Arizona. Another local kid for Sun Devil fans to keep an eye on. Worthy is listed as an athlete but primarily plays as a cornerback for his team. Worthy is listed as the 196th-best athlete in the class of 2024 and the 39th-best player in the state of Arizona. On the defensive side, Worthy had 29 tackles last season, 17 of those being solo. He also played wide receiver on offense last season, catching seven passes for 147 yards. As well as ASU, Worthy has offers from the likes of Army, Boise State, Boston College, Washington, and others.

Kenny Dillingham and Brian Ward are quickly working to fix the defense and bring it back to being one of the Pac-12’s best.
