TEMPE, Ariz. — Breaking news this morning out of Tempe, defensive lineman BJ Green has decided to enter the transfer portal. He is arguably the best player on the defensive side of the ball for the Sun Devils, and he has been at Arizona State since high school.
The Powder Springs, GA native will now begin to look for another program to go and make an impact at.
Green gave a sincere, heartfelt message on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Arizona State football loses BJ Green to transfer portal
Through his three seasons at ASU, he put up some serious stats, none more than this season.
Overall, Green complied 13.5 sacks, 60 tackles, 34 solo tackles, and recovered a fumble in the Las Vegas Bowl against Wisconsin. Off the stat sheet, Green was a monster.
Every single play Green was putting his heart and soul into that play and seemingly was in the backfield every play he was on the field.
In the game against Utah this season Green had six tackles, half sack, and three solo tackles just in that game alone. With all those stats being said, Green was tied for the most sacks on the team with six.
This is a big loss for the Sun Devils and they will need to find a way to fill the void in the portal or on the recruiting trail.
We wish BJ all the best of luck.
The transfer portal has created a chaotic off-season in this new era of college football, and Sun Devil Daily will keep you updated with any portal news throughout the off-season.
