TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State head football coach Kenny Dillingham made a promise to recruit the state of Arizona, and he’s doing his best to live up to that promise. Dillingham and the Sun Devils were named as a finalist for a local standout prospect. Out of ASU’s four 2025 pledges, only one is from the state of Arizona, but Dillingham is looking to increase that number.
Arizona State football makes cut list for in-state prospect
Cornerback Dajon Hinton from Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Ariz. announced his top-five finalists recently. 247 Sports ranks Hinton as a three-star prospect and the No. 5 recruit in Arizona for the 2025 class.
Arizona State football will be competing against Arizona, Washington, Oregon, and Tennesee for Hinton. The Arizona native recently broke down his top-five with 247 Sports Analyst Blair Angulo. Here’s what the recruit had to say about ASU.
“ASU is nothing but family,” Hinton told 247 Sports. “I live five minutes away (from) my old head coach at my high school, Jason Mohns, who is the tight ends coach and is family to me. Coach Dilly is building something special there and no doubt in my mind would I consider that be the decision at the end of this recruitment.”
The Sun Devils have a lot of competition for Hinton however, especially considering that both his father and brothers attended Arizona. Hinton mentioned he would be interested in carrying the legacy of his family at Arizona.
Will the Sun Devils be able to keep the local prospect home?
Arizona State football currently has the No. 25 overall recruiting class in 2025 and the No. 4 class in the Big 12 conference (247 Sports).
