TEMPE, Ariz. — It’s finally gameday for Arizona State football in Tempe, as the Sun Devils close out their non-conference schedule with Fresno State. Last weekend the Sun Devil Daily staff went 1-2 on predictions against Oklahoma State. We’ll see if we can turn that number around this week!
Arizona State football: Fresno State game predictions
Arizona State: 34 Fresno State:31
Arizona State wins 34-31 in a closely contested high-scoring affair. ASU’s offense is able to overcome injury woes, Badger goes for over 100 yards and a touchdown and Skattebo gets going as well. Neither defense gets many stops and with the game tied late, ASU kicks a game-winning field goal. The Sun Devils get a bounce-back win before they welcome in Caleb Williams and USC. – Douglas Santo (1-1)
Fresno State: 27 Arizona State: 20
Fresno State wins 27-20 because ASU has skill-position injuries. Furthermore, Fresno states offense will slowly wear down the Sun Devil defense. – Cooper Burns (2-0)
Fresno State: 21 Arizona State: 17
Arizona State has struggled against the Mountain West Conference for some time now. Since 2008, the Sun Devils are just 3-5 against the Mountain West schools. Fresno State is no slouch either. The Bulldogs have the second-longest win streak in the FBS and are catching ASU at the right time. I think the defense holds up again, but critical injuries like Jalin Conyers, DeCarlos Brooks, and the offensive line will hold back the Arizona State offense. A low-scoring affair, but I have Fresno State escaping Tempe with a win.
The questions will start to swirl around this season, but Arizona State will have a fresh start come conference play, and they’ll need it. – Brendon Pricco (1-1)
