SEATTLE — Arizona State football hits the road for the second time this season. This time the Sun Devils will be heading north to Seattle for a matchup with No. 5 Washington. It’s ASU’s second game against a top-five opponent this season. Here are the Sun Devil Daily staff predictions for how ASU will fare in this difficult matchup.
Arizona State football vs Washington predictions
Washington: 45 Arizona State: 17
Washington is just too much for ASU in all aspects of the game. Despite ASU’s recent success against them, this game won’t stay close for long. Washington’s defense is better than what Arizona State has faced the past few weeks and will make it a struggle for ASU to consistently move the ball. The Sun Devils’ defense has played well all season, but the Michael Penix-led offense for Washington is too explosive to hold down. Washington doesn’t stumble after a big win over Oregon and wins big again. – Douglas Santo (3-3)
Washington: 49 Arizona State: 21
While Arizona State football has seemingly had Washington’s number over the past few seasons, this one seems different. Penix has plenty of playmakers around him and can strike at any second. The Washington offense is too much and the crowd noise will affect the offense’s ability to move the ball. – Cooper Burns (5-1)
Washington: 48 Arizona State: 28
I think Arizona State hangs around for the first half, but this Washington offense is the best in college football. Michael Penix is the Heisman frontrunner for a reason and is incredibly experienced. I believe Washington has the best receiver room in college football, and while the defense might be able to hang around for the first half if ASU’s offense can’t stay on the field, they’ll get tired quickly.
I think Arizona State will have success moving the ball, but not enough to really make the Huskies sweat. This is just too difficult of a Washington team, and probably the best team Arizona State will see all season. – Brendon Pricco (3-3)
