Arizona State vs. USC is officially a sellout

The last (conference) edition of the ASU vs. USC rivalry is officially a sellout. The last sellout at Mountain America Stadium, then known as Sun Devil Stadium, was also against USC, in 2021.

The Sun Devils won that matchup against the Trojans 31-16, behind a massive performance by runningback Rachaad White. White ran for over 200 yards and three touchdowns.

USC leads the all-time series between the two programs 25-13. However, it’s been fairly even the last 10 years, with USC leading 6-4.

The last time USC won in Tempe was in 2019. The Trojans narrowly escaped winning 31-26. They were backed by a huge performance from quarterback Kedon Slovis who threw for 432 yards and a touchdown. That game was also a sellout.

USC comes into this matchup ranked fifth overall in college football, and the Trojans are led by quarterback Caleb Williams. Williams is the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and is looking to win the award again this season.

The last time a Heisman Trophy winner came to Tempe was in 2005 when top-ranked USC with Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush won 38-28. ASU held a 21-3 lead at one point in that contest.

USC enters the matchup undefeated, 3-0. Arizona State is 1-2, coming off a shutout loss against Fresno State. According to ESPN, the Trojans are currently favored by 34.5 points.

Will ASU be able to pull off an upset in front of a packed house?
