TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State soccer went 2-0 this past week to build off of their 1-0-1 start. The Sun Devils picked up road victories against New Mexico State and UTEP. ASU outscored the two schools 6-1 overall.

Arizona State soccer remains unbeaten

In four games this season, Arizona State has only allowed one goal (against New Mexico State). In their lone draw on the season, the Sun Devils tied with Mississippi State 0-0.

Goalkeeper Pauline Nelles has continued her excellent play after winning Pac-12 Keeper of the Week in Week One. In the two-game road trip, she had five total saves. She picked up the shutout against UTEP and only allowed one goal against New Mexico State.

The Sun Devil defense has also performed well specifically the back line. In half of their contests this season, ASU opponents have been held to three shots or less (Wright State, UTEP).

The defense and goalkeeping have been extremely impressive, but let’s not forget the offense.

Sophomore Enasia Colon has led the way. Colon is from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. IMG is known for cranking out high-level Division One athletes, and she’s no exception. Colon has four goals this season as well as an assist. She scored two in both the Wright State and New Mexico State contests and added an assist against UTEP.

While Colon has done a fantastic job putting the ball in the back of the net, fifth-year senior forward Sosuka Yosue has had a lot of success creating opportunities. The Japan native has four assists on the season. She had two against Wright State and New Mexico State. Against UTEP, Yosue joined the scoring fun with a goal.

Arizona State soccer is putting together a near-perfect start to the year. The Sun Devils might have something special brewing in Tempe.
