TEMPE, Ariz. — Ray Anderson has officially resigned as Athletic Director of Arizona State, as many Sun Devil fans are happy to hear. Arizona State University announced that James (Jim) Rund would be serving as the interim AD while the University looks to hire Anderson’s replacement.
Jim Rund to serve as interim AD
Rund is currently the ASU Senior Vice President for Educational Outreach and Student Services. In 2013 Rund served as the interim AD following the departure of Steve Patterson for Texas. So this won’t be his first time in this role.
Rund’s responsibilities at ASU in his role as Senior Vice President for Educational Outreach and Student Services included: “oversight of student services at all four ASU campuses and university outreach efforts including educational partnerships. Professor Rund has served in various administrative capacities at ASU including dean of student development, associate vice president for student affairs, and vice president for university undergraduate initiatives, and interim dean and director of the Mary Lou Fulton Institute and Graduate School of Education,” according to Arizona State.
The interim AD graduated from Moorhead State University with a bachelor’s degree in English before getting a master’s degree in Counseling and Student Personnel Services from North Dakota State. Finally, he made his way to ASU while getting his doctorate in Higher and Adult Education.
Arizona State University has an important hire to make. The future Athletic Director for the Sun Devils will take over in a rapidly evolving time, including ASU moving to the Big-12 conference, NIL, the transfer portal, etc.
