TEMPE, Ariz. — Highly touted four-star recruit Jahki Howard visited ASU basketball this past weekend for his first-ever official collegiate visit. The 6-foot-6 small forward originally hails from Norcross, Georgia. Now Howard plays with the Overtime Elite Program.

If you are unaware of what Overtime Elite is it essentially is a path for players to pass on the opportunity of playing high school basketball and focus full-time on developing their craft.

Overtime Elite has seen players go to the NBA as recently as last season and has also seen players go to some of the most elite college basketball institutions in the NCAA.

Going back to Howard, he is currently ranked as the 59th best player in the ESPN 100. Breaking down the rankings he is the second-best player from Georgia and the 21st-best player at his position, small forward.

Out of 100, Howard’s current scouting grade is at 86 and he is currently labeled as a power five starter no matter the school he attends.

Brandon Jenkins a basketball scout for 247 Sports had some very promising things to say about Howard in his scouting report. Here is what Jenkins had to say.

“Howard is a project wing loaded with the elite long-term tools to be great. He is very long, athletic, and disruptive on the defensive end. Howard plays hard in spurts and is productive on both ends when doing so. However, his entire skill set on the perimeter will need to evolve. He has a clean jumper and ball-handling skills that are improving, but he produces more with his athletic ability than with skill. Howard’s basketball is ahead of him as he does possess a significant upside. High major programs are drawn to his freaky athleticism, tremendous length, and his terrific potential in the game.”

An update on Howard’s recruitment

While Howard was here on the weekend of the 15th Arizona State officially extended a scholarship offer.

The Sun Devils are the latest among 21 other schools to offer Howard a scholarship. Other notable teams include Arkansas, Auburn, Connecticut, Kansas, and Tennessee.

Howard does not yet have a commitment date yet, but this is a recruitment that Sun Devil fans should watch closely.
