TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State football welcomes Fresno State to town on Saturday night, and ASU will have a chance to end one of the longest streaks in all of college football.
ASU looks to end Fresno State’s winning streak
Fresno State comes into this weekend boasting an 11-game winning streak, the second longest in FBS. The only team with a longer winning streak is the defending national champions, Georgia. The Bulldogs from down south have won an astounding 19 straight. Their last loss was in the 2021 SEC Championship game against Alabama.
While Fresno State’s streak is still a whole eight games shy of Georgia’s, it’s still impressive. The last loss for them was on Oct. 8, 2022, against Boise State. Boise State won by 20 and gave Fresno State their fourth loss of the season. They haven’t lost since.
The Bulldogs finished their 2022 campaign 9-4, with a bowl victory over Washington State, 22-6. They finished the season with a top 25 ranking in the AP poll, clocking in at No. 24.
So far their momentum and success from 2022 is carrying into 2023. Fresno State kicked off their season with a huge road victory over Purdue, 39-35. Anytime you can travel across the country to a Big 10 school and come out with a victory, it’s impressive.
The Bulldogs avoided a scare against FCS school Eastern Washington last weekend, winning by three in overtime. ASU will look to capitalize off the weaknesses that Eastern Washington exposed. Will the Sun Devils be able to close out their non-conference schedule with a win, and end one of the longest winning streaks in the nation?
