TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State football’s Game 1 starting quarterback Jaden Rashada hasn’t played in a game since Sept. 9 against Oklahoma State due to injury. The highly touted freshman with a cannon for an arm oozed potential and had lots of Sun Devil fans excited.

Unfortunately during the Oklahoma State game, Rashada reaggravated a leg injury from high school and has been out ever since.

However, he was dressed and warmed up against UCLA this past weekend in Pasadena, and the freshman could play in ASU’s final two games while preserving his redshirt. Could we see him make a return as soon as this weekend against Oregon?

Jaden Rashada injury update

Arizona State football head coach Kenny Dillingham was asked about the possibility of the true freshman playing for the first time in over two months on Monday during his weekly press conference.

“Potentially, just depends on if he’s ready and healthy to get back in there,” Dillingham said. “No, I’m not gonna push him past the timeline, or until he’s 100%. But yes… if he feels 100%, he could be in the football game. But I’m not gonna push him until he’s at that point.”

This season in just two games Rashada has thrown for 403 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. He has a completion percentage of 56.7%. His best performance was opening night against Southern Utah when he threw for 236 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in his first collegiate action.

“We definitely could use him because it wouldn’t burn his redshirt,” Dillingham continued.

Rashada adds a different level of explosiveness to the Arizona State offense. That’s something that could be helpful against potentially the best team ASU has faced all season.

Only time will tell if we’ll see Rashada under center on Saturday.
