TEMPE, Ariz. — Six Arizona State football seniors were named to the Reese’s Senior Bowl watchlist. The game is college football’s longest continual-running all-star game and takes place in Mobile, Ala. It is a huge opportunity for some of the top seniors in the sport to put their skills on display before the NFL Draft.
This past season over 900 NFL personnel attended and there were over 1,000 credentialed members of the media. To be invited to the Reese’s Senior Bowl is both a great honor and a great opportunity.
Six Sun Devils were named to the watchlist of players that could find themselves playing in Mobile in February.
Six players named to Senior Bowl watchlist
Jalin Conyers
Arizona State’s star tight end Jalin Conyers is actually a redshirt junior. However, if he declared for the NFL Draft, he’d be eligible to compete in the Reese’s Senior Bowl. It’s also safe to say, he’d deserve it. Conyers excelled in the second half of last season. In the last five weeks of the season, the Texas native racked up 346 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. Both of those were the highest of any TE in the FBS in that time span.
Xavier Guillory
Guillory, an Idaho State transfer, is also a redshirt junior. Last season he was one of the top wide receivers in the FCS. The transfer erupted for 52 receptions and 785 yards in 2022. He also added four touchdown receptions. Guillory’s explosive talent paired with newly named starting quarterback Jaden Rashada, could be dangerous. I wouldn’t be surprised if Guillory breaks out and plays his way to Mobile.
Cam Skattebo
Skattebo, a running back, is coming to Tempe with a lot of hype surrounding him. In 2022 the Sacramento State transfer was named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year. He led Sac State to an 11-0 regular season record and the #2 ranking in FCS. The California native ran for 1,382 yards and seven touchdowns. There’s a good chance Skattebo is one of, if not the most important player in ASU’s offense.
Ro Torrence
Torrence is a redshirt junior who spent last season with Arizona State after spending time at Hutchinson Community College. The defensive back played seven games last season for the Sun Devils and was a shutdown corner whilst on the field. He racked up 28 total tackles, five passes defended, and an interception. If Torrence can get a full season of games under his belt, he can be an anchor for the defense.
Aaron Frost
Frost is a 6’5 offensive lineman who is expected to offer crucial protection. The graduate transfer from Nevada missed all of his 2022 season but was named to the Outland Trophy watchlist in the preseason. In both 2020 and 2021, Frost earned All-Mountain West Second Team Honors. After a season off due to injury, I believe Frost will mark his return in a big way.
Elijhah Badger
Badger is a redshirt junior from Sacramento and has spent his entire college career with the Sun Devils. Last season Badger made an enormous leap. His production skyrocketed from seven receptions to 70. He also had 864 receiving yards, which was good enough to be top-50 in the FBS. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Badger continue to improve and put up even better numbers in 2023.
