TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State welcomes Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes to Tempe this Saturday. No Power 5 teams hit the transfer portal to the same extent as these two programs. This will be a good measuring stick for both programs to see where they’re at, under their new head coaches.
Leading up to the game this week, Sanders spoke, and spoke highly, about Kenny Dillingham.
Deion Sanders praises Kenny Dillingham
“I was assembling a staff once upon a time,” Sanders began. “Not gonna tell you whom, or for what, but he was a part of it. And we communicated quite a bit, and I was happy with every step that he’s taken, because, I know he’s that guy. I know he’s been more than capable, so when I saw him get this opportunity, I was ecstatic.”
It’s clear that Coach Prime is very familiar with Dillingham and holds him in high regard as a coach.
“Then we saw one another at the Pac-12 meetings, and that embrace was awesome to me because I know his climb,” Sanders continued. “And I know what kind of man he is. He is great for their program, he is great for college football, he’s a tremendous mind offensively… He’s gonna be a great head coach. I have the utmost respect, and love, and admiration for him.”
High praise from one of the best to ever play the game, and a rising coaching star. In just one season, Sanders has already flipped a Colorado program around that was 1-11 last season.
Saturday’s matchup is the final Pac-12 battle between ASU and Colorado, and it’s clear that the two men on the sidelines have lots of respect for each other.
