TEMPE, Ariz. — If you thought Kenny Dillingham was done yet you have been proven wrong. This is by far the best run of commitments that Arizona State football has had in any sport in a very long time.

As for the newest commit, JP Deeter is a former Purdue defensive lineman and a Manvel, Texas native.

Deeter measures 6-foot-3, and 285 pounds.

As you can tell by now, The #Texas2Tempe pipeline has been a major factor in the turnaround of the ASU program in just a short time.

With the losses of Michael Matus and Dashaun Mallory exhausting their eligibility, Arizona State football is looking to fill out the defensive line via the transfer portal. This is the first piece of that.

Deeter, who played at Purdue, did not appear in any games last season as a freshman.

That being said, Deeter recorded some huge stats in high school. The Texan racked up 106 total tackles. Deeter often made a living in the opponent’s backfields as well. He spent his two seasons tallying 6.5 sacks and 20 quarterback hurries.

  • 106 tackles
  • 59 solo tackles
  • 6.5 sacks
  • 20 hurries

Deeter was a three-star recruit as a member of the 2022 high school class, ranking No. 1,414 nationally, No. 171 among defensive linemen, and No. 203 in Texas.

While he may have not played much at Purdue, Arizona State football takes the first step in filling out the defensive line. Depth in the trenches is crucial. Dillingham is looking to build this team inside out.
