A former Sun Devil announced today that he’s entering the transfer portal for the second time in his career.
Former Sun Devil enters the transfer portal… again
LV Bunkley-Shelton was a key part of Arizona State’s 2020 recruiting class. He redshirted his freshman season before having a breakout sophomore campaign at the wide receiver position.
In 2021 Shelton played in 11 games for ASU and started seven. He racked up 33 receptions for 418 receiving yards and also tallied two touchdowns.
For a redshirt freshman, this was extremely good, especially considering going into the 2022 season he had four years of remaining eligibility thanks to COVID.
However, the excitement for Shelton’s future felt by Sun Devil Nation didn’t last long. He entered the transfer portal with his four years of eligibility and was highly sought after.
Shelton joined many Sun Devils that entered the portal after the 2021 season like Jayden Daniels, Ricky Pearsall, Johnny Wilson, and more.
Unfortunately for Shelton, he didn’t share the same success at his new school as others. The California native took his talents to the Oklahoma Sooners and never was able to be productive.
In 2022 he played in 12 games, but didn’t make any starts and only had two receptions. 2023 didn’t bring much improvement as Shelton finished the regular season with three receptions for 33 yards.
Now the wide receiver is entering the transfer portal for a second time, and will likely be immediately eligible thanks to the new NCAA rules granting multi-time transfers immediate eligibility.
Shelton has two remaining seasons of eligibility.
