TEMPE, Ariz. — Defensive back Keontez Bradley is a freshman from Mansfield, Ohio. In high school, Bradley was an all-around beast on the football field, and he dominated other sports as well.
On the field, Bradley played both sides of the ball. On defense, he was a defensive back, and on offense, he was primarily a wide receiver. He finished his 27-game varsity career with 89 total tackles, four tackles for loss, five interceptions, 20 pass deflections, and a fumble recovery. Bradley compiled nearly 900 all-purpose yards.
The Ohio native was also extremely impressive on the track. He qualified for the Division 1 state championships in the 400-meter as a junior. Bradley also ran hurdles and relay events.
So far he’s been using that athleticism to excel in Tempe.
Freshman cornerback Keontez Bradley impresses
During Wednesday’s scrimmage, Bradley held his own pretty well. Ohio is known for having high-level high school football, and some of that competition looks to have helped Bradley prepare.
The freshman forced three pass breakups in Wednesday’s scrimmage. That was the most of any defensive back in the scrimmage. All stats were hand tracked by Sun Devil Daily staff.
Bradley has done a tremendous job of using his speed and athleticism to make plays on the ball and stay with opposing wide receivers.
The freshman phenom was recruited by defensive backs coach Bryan Carrington and wide receivers coach Ra’Shaad Samples. It looks like the new members of the coaching staff found a diamond in the rough in their first recruiting class at Arizona State.
