TEMPE, Ariz. — Jalin Conyers is back. The star tight end is one of ASU football’s best offensive weapons, and his skillset will be much needed on Saturday against No. 5 USC. Conyers missed Arizona State’s last game against Fresno State with an injury. Prior to that in the first two games of the season, he combined for six receptions for 68 yards. Not bad, but he’s still looking to get going after a terrific stretch at the end of last season.

Jalin Conyers will play against USC

For Conyers, this Saturday’s matchup against USC is personal. USC head coach Lincoln Riley was the head coach at Oklahoma and recruited Conyers. The Texas native spent his first season of college football with Riley at Oklahoma.

“It’s definitely exciting for all of us, for me personally, I’m going against my old staff that even got me into college football in the first place,” Conyers said. “It definitely means a lot to me to go into this game and have a good game.”

Conyers is aware that the Sun Devils are massive underdogs and knows all of the factors surrounding the program right now. They’re incredibly beat up, even Conyers said he hasn’t ever been a part of this many injuries before. He’s not even used to getting injured, despite all of the hits he takes.

“Last week, when everyone was getting hurt, I asked the doctor if I could go suit up at halftime,” Conyers said. “He told me no.”

Despite all of those factors like a seemingly broken offense, injuries, and more, the whole team has one goal. To shock the world.

“It’s our first conference game, you’re playing the No.5 team in the country, they’re coming to your house,” Conyers said. “I think it’s just one of those times that gives us a like ‘Why not? Why not go shock the world?'”

Jalin Conyers and the Sun Devils will look to shock the world this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Arizona time.
