TEMPE, Ariz. — After a breakout junior season for the Arizona State baseball program, Luke Keaschall watched his dreams come true. On Sunday the standout infielder was drafted 49th overall to the Minnesota Twins in the 2023 MLB Draft. ESPN’s most recent mock draft predicted Keaschall to be drafted 50th overall to the Boston Red Sox.

Luke Keaschall is Minnesota bound

Keaschall is a native of Watsonville, Calif., and originally began his college career playing for the University of San Fransisco. He spent two seasons with the Dons. The shortstop won WCC Freshman of the Year after his first season of college baseball.

After his time in the bay, the talented infielder transferred to Arizona State. In his junior season, Keascshall broke out. After only hitting 12 career home runs in his first two seasons as a collegiate player, Keaschall smashed 18 homers in his junior season.

He also was a consistent contact hitter at the plate. The former transfer slashed .353/.443/.725. The elite hitter also has good speed. Keaschall tallied up 18 stolen bases as well for the season.

Keaschall led the Sun Devils in several major categories including home runs, OPS, and slugging.

His special play on the diamond was good enough for national recognition. Perfect Game named him an All-American, an award well-deserved for the 20-year-old.

Now the former college bat will have to work his way through Minnesota Twin’s minor league system.

The Florida Complex League Twins are Minnesota’s rookie affiliate. They play in the Florida Complex League. Here are the rest of Minnesota’s minor-league affiliates:

  • Class A: Cedar Rapids Kernels
  • Class A Advanced: Fort Meyers Mighty Mussels
  • Double A: Pensacola Blue Wahoos
  • Triple A: Rochester Red Wings

Sun Devil fans should have fun watching Keaschall play his way up to the big leagues.
