TEMPE, Ariz. – Three-star offensive lineman Rob Lapuaho committed to ASU Thursday. Lapuaho is from Salt Lake City, Utah, and played at West High School.
He is ranked No. 76 in his position and No. 13 in the state of Utah for the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247 Sports.
Lapuaho took a visit to Tempe the last weekend of April and was present for ASU’s spring showcase.
Rob Lapuaho at West High School
Last season at West High School, Lapuaho played all ten of his team’s games and posted good blocking numbers. Over the course of the season, Lapuaho accumulated 48 pancake blocks, with an average of 4.8 pancake blocks per game.
For those who may not know, a pancake block is when an offensive lineman blocks a defender to the ground, “flattening” him like a pancake.
ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham and offensive line coach Saga Tuitele had to work very hard to get Lapuaho’s pledge.
ASU was among five Power Five teams fighting for his services, including three other Big 12 teams.
Lapuaho picked ASU over these other four schools:
- Boston College
- Iowa State
- Oklahoma State
- Utah
Lapuaho adds depth to ASU’s recruiting
Getting this pledge shows that Dillingham and Tuitele have been putting a lot of work on the recruiting trail and transfer portal this offseason to improve the position. Last season, ASU lacked depth along the offensive line due to various injuries, so the Sun Devils have made it a priority to fill that need this offseason.
Lapuaho’s commitment adds to an already stellar recruiting class. ASU has the top recruiting class in the Big 12 and moves up to No. 12 nationally with Lapuaho’s pledge.
The Sun Devils continue to climb the ranks in recruiting rankings, and you can only expect that to continue. ASU reached the top of the Big 12 earlier this week and continues to increase the gap with its latest recruiting success.
