TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State baseball had a year full of ups and downs. One of those ups was infielder Luke Keaschall. With MLB draft day now upon us, the Sun Devil star is expected to hear his name called.

Arizona State baseball’s Luke Keaschall expected to be drafted

In ESPN’s final and most recent mock draft, they predicted Keaschall to be drafted in the second round. According to the mock draft, the Boston Red Sox will be taking Keaschall with pick 50 in the draft.

Of course, mock drafts are only predictions, but being predicted to be selected as #50 in the draft is a great sign.

The California native began his college baseball career at San Fransisco before transferring to ASU. Keaschall spent two seasons playing for the Dons. While in the bay, he slashed .320/.406/.475 as an 18-year-old freshman. He also hit four home runs and brought in 30 runs.

He would only improve from there. As a sophomore Keaschall slashed .305/.445/.502. He also doubled his homerun total from his freshman season with eight.

After those two successful seasons at San Francisco, Keaschall transferred to Tempe. Arizona State baseball welcomed the star with open arms.

Keaschall’s junior year was his best by far. He slashed .353/.443/.725. The biggest leap in his game? His power at the plate. Keaschall hit 18 home runs in his junior season, smashing his previous totals. He also had 58 RBIs.

Perfect Game recognized the junior’s elite play. The company named him as an All American.

Thanks to his elite play, Keaschall now has a chance to watch his dreams come true on draft day.
