Former Arizona State football star Xazavian Valladay has inked a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers according to his agent.
The running back only played for the Sun Devils for a season but left his mark. Now after going undrafted, he’s looking to prove doubters wrong in the NFL.
Xazavian Valladay signs with the Steelers after going undrafted
Prior to signing with the Steelers, Valladay had agreed to a deal with the Houston Texans. Unfortunately, things didn’t pan out properly for the two parties, as Valladay was waived. The former Sun Devil was able to secure $175k in guarantees from the Texans prior to being waived.
At Arizona State Valladay had an electric senior (5th year) season. He played in all 12 games and ran for over 1,000 yards on the season. The running back tallied up 16 rushing touchdowns, a career-high. He had 18 total touchdowns.
Valladay also proved to be a dangerous threat as a receiver. He had 37 receptions for 289 yards (7.8 average yards per catch). He also added two receiving touchdowns. One of those, against No. 21 Washington, was quarterback Trenton Bourguet’s first passing touchdown of the season.
Prior to coming to Tempe, Valladay played four seasons at Wyoming. He had two 1,000-yard rushing seasons with the Cowboys in the Mountain West Conference. In his four-year career there he ran up some impressive numbers. With Wyoming, he had 3,858 total yards and 21 total touchdowns.
After a very successful college career, we’ll see if Valladay is able to leave his mark on the NFL. He has the opportunity to do that with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
