TEMPE, Ariz. — We’re under 48 hours away from National Signing Day, and Arizona State football has added another 2024 recruiting class. The Sun Devils class currently sits at No. 52 nationally (before their newest addition) and No. 8 in the Big 12 conference according to 247 Sports.
Their highest-ranked recruit of the class is runningback Jason Brown from O’Dea High School in Seattle, Wash. For Kenny Dillingham’s latest addition, we’ll go back to O’Dea in the PNW, but this time head over to the defensive side of the ball.
Arizona State football bolsters secondary with new pickup
This evening three-star safety Kyan McDonald announced his commitment to the Sun Devils. McDonald held scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Michigan, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and others.
The three-star visited Tempe this weekend on an official visit, this was also when he earned a scholarship offer from the Sun Devil staff.
247 Sports Scout Brandon Huffman projected McDonald as a Power-5 starter in his latest evaluation of the safety on Sept. 15, 2023.
“McDonald is a versatile player who can line up at corner if needed, play nickel, or stand at safety, where most schools project him to play,” Huffman wrote in his evaluation. “He has also been a weapon for the Irish as a receiver, where he can adjust to passes and stretch the field. That’s in line with his ball skills as a defensive back, where he tracks the ball well and can pluck it out of the air. In coverage, he’s physical in press and is a sure tackler, with a high football IQ and savvy technically. While he may not have ideal safety size, he plays and hits like he is.”
McDonald is the 19th addition to ASU’s 2024 recruiting class.
