Arizona State football makes shortlist for four-star recruit

Arizona State football made the shortlist for Mark Iheanachor.

TEMPE, Ariz. — The Kenny Dillingham era is in full swing for Arizona State football, and the Sun Devils are making ground in another recruiting battle. Currently, ASU has four commits in the 2025 recruiting class, which doesn’t sound like many, but it’s enough for ASU to clock in at No. 25 nationally right now (247 Sports). The class is headlined by QB commit Michael Tollefson and all four pledges are three-star prospects.

Half of ASU’s 2025 class is from Calif. and Dillingham and his staff aren’t stopping there. The departure of UCLA and USC to the Big 10 opened a new recruiting battlefield for Big 12 schools like ASU in SoCal. One of those battles is for a highly touted linebacker.

Arizona State football makes cut list for four-star linebacker

Mark Iheanachor is the No. 30 overall linebacker in the 2025 class and the No. 27 player in Calif. per 247 Sports. 247 Sports also ranks him as a four-star prospect, but the 247 Sports composite which takes in other major recruiting sites to calculate an average, is a little lower. The composite has Iheanachor as a three-star, but still a highly regarded one.

The linebacker from Harbor City, Calif. holds 16 offers including ASU, Arizona, and Washington. Iheanachor recently announced his final seven schools and ASU made the cut.

The other schools on his shortlist are Washington, SMU, UCF, Mississippi State, Maryland, and Oregon State.

If Iheanachor’s last name sounds familiar, it should. His older brother Max Iheanachor is an offensive lineman for Arizona State football. The family connection should be an advantage for Kenny Dillingham and Co. in this recruitment.

Another thing that ASU has going for them is that Iheanachor was visiting UCLA when the Bruins hosted the Sun Devils this season. ASU won that game 17-7 in Pasadena, and it was a dominant showing by Brian Ward and his defensive unit.

Adding Iheanachor would be a significant pickup for ASU.
