TEMPE, Ariz. — Pro Football Focus (or PFF) is a nationally known site in the football community. They use a secret and unique formula to grade every football player in both college and the NFL, after each game. Here are the top-performing Sun Devils from Week 1 according to PFF.

PFF’s top-graded Arizona State football players

Isaia Glass – 85.8 – Pass Blocking

The junior offensive lineman from Queen Creek High School has been a force for the Sun Devils. On a roster that had over 50 new additions, Glass was a rare returner. As a sophomore, he started all 12 games for the Sun Devils, and he continued that trend into this season.

It’s hard to use statistics and data to shine a light on blocking, but PFF thinks highly of Glass’s pass-blocking skills.

Glass did a great job of getting a good push off the line and giving freshman quarterback Jaden Rashada time to scan for his targets downfield. Games are won and lost in the trenches, and Glass did his part to contribute towards the win on Thursday.

BJ Green III – 85.7 – Pass Rush

This should come as no surprise if you watched the game. Green III has been a monster on the interior, both stopping the run and pressuring the quarterback.

The Atlanta native had four total tackles and a quarterback hurry against Southern Utah, but also made a lot of plays that don’t show up in the stat sheet.

Green III proved to be a problem for Southern Utah’s offensive linemen to stay in front of. Even on times when he didn’t get to the quarterback, he made an impact in the trenches.

It’s nice to see PFF’s grade pick up on things outside of the box score.

Emmit Bohle – 84.0 – Run Blocking

Bohle is another guy on the Sun Devil offensive line with experience. He’s also the only one on this list to have two separate grades from PFF that were both in the top five on the team. Bohle had a 79.3 overall offensive grade as well.

The former transfer and current graduate student began his career at Northern State in South Dakota.

Last season for the Sun Devils he played in all 12 games and started the last seven at tackle. Now he’s carrying that momentum into this season and Bohle started strong against Southern Utah.

Xavier Guillory – 79.1 – Run Blocking

Run blocking. Yes, run blocking. The same receiver who hauled in a 45-yard touchdown makes an appearance on this list for run blocking.

That is a terrific sign for the Sun Devils. Having a receiver willing to block opens up the ability for more outside runs. Cameron Skattebo had a good first game with Arizona State, and PFF recognized that Guillory helped him out on the perimeter.

And of course, he did a pretty nice job catching the ball on Thursday too.
